In a remarkable achievement, Twickenham Stadium, the venerable epicentre of England's rugby heritage, has been awarded the esteemed Gold ECOsmart accreditation by Greengage, underscoring its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability.

This latest recognition joins an impressive roster of accolades, including BS20121 and ISO14001, reflecting the stadium's ambitious pursuit of achieving net-zero status in its operations.

A standout feature in Twickenham's sustainability journey is its commendable strides in promoting sustainable event food practices. Notably, the stadium has upheld a robust 'zero waste to landfill policy' for the past eight years, making it a trailblazer in the realm of environmentally conscious sports venues.

The venue boasts an impressive statistic, with 95% of its food meticulously prepared and cooked onsite, using a minimum of 80% locally sourced British ingredients. Additionally, the stadium ensures the efficient recycling of all cooking oil, contributing to its overall sustainable food management.

Andrew Perolls, CEO of Greengage, expressed admiration for Twickenham Stadium's commitment to sustainability, noting, "They are a business that is continually reviewing what they are doing with regards to sustainability and challenging themselves internally. They are also a sharing business and have taken great steps to pass on what they learn to other businesses; this is an important part of us all striving for an even more sustainable industry."

This recognition firmly establishes Twickenham Stadium as a frontrunner in the global sustainability landscape, setting new benchmarks and inspiring an eco-conscious approach within the sports and events industry. The home of England Rugby continues to showcase that sporting excellence and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand, leaving an indelible mark on the future of sustainable event hosting.
